Jim Wright
Land and Sea Scapes

Born in Scotland, Jim Wright's family emigrated to Perth in Western Australia in 1968 when he was twelve years old. From an early age Jim showed a natural talent for both art and music, but he opted to develop his love of art into a career and trained at the Perth College of Art and Design.
He returned to Britain in order to explore his native country, climbing most of the mountain ranges in Scotland and then Ireland. This has inspired much of his work, which shows an affinity with the rugged landscapes and seascapes of Britain.
Jim Wright initially worked in London in graphic design and with the audio-visual industry, illustrating for heritage and conservation shows. His work on 'Jersey Zoo' won him the award for the best A.V. illustrations. He then relocated to Manchester where he continued in audio-visual business, and subsequently moved to North Yorkshire. Jim is now a professional painter living on the edge of the North Yorks national park where he is ideally located to draw upon the rich variety of landscapes and seascapes. He has a large number of works now in private collections in London and throughout Britain.
Most of his work is in pastels and, recently, mixed media. His application and technique lend themselves to the subject matter and his colours flow across the canvas as if the moorland wind itself had blown the pastel into the atmospheric effects captured on the page.
