Wayne Charmer

Wayne Charmer became engaged with the possibilities of glass as a means to artistic expression while studying 3D design at university in Manchester. He soon realised that through the exploration of fused glass and enamels he could mould both colour and texture into works of great charm and interest. He developed his own particular techniques of glass working, involving fusing, slumping and double firing. Although he employs mainly industrial basic materials such as glass, wire, and enamels, his deisgns derive from organic themes such as stones and marine life. Thus he uses the natural world as his starting point from which designs evolve with particular consideration of how they will appear in different lights and from different angles, as some parts of the glass are less translucent than others.

All the works in this collection are hand made, signed and dated. Bespoke, small batch, limited additions may be produced on request.

His work has been exhibited in Manchester, Sheffield, Winchester, Birmingham, Derbyshire, Chichester, Cheshire and Yorkshire.
