Tadeusz Was

Tadeusz Was describes his work as 'figurative abstract expressionism'.   At the Polish State Institute of Fine Art he specialised in mural painting and stained glass design, and features of these disciplines are clearly evident in his work.   He shows an interest in the combination of light, form and colour which transforms the paint into an enamelled effect, creating a transparency that allows us to see the layers of pattern building up the image.
