Gabriela Trynkler was born in 1959 in Gdansk, Poland and studied graphics at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun, and later painting in Gdansk (formerly Danzig), the birthpace of the Solidarity movement.

She creates vivid, shimmering, vibrant pictures by building on the contrasts between primary, luminous colours.  Lines weave a lively, fluid dance, often against a stable background space of broadly painted rectangular frames.  She is fascinated by landscape, by light and, above all, by colour. She strives to express her internalised world of magic, saying that her work "is an attempt to search for relations between culture and nature, between the immaterial and the real, between energy and matter. It is also a strife -- torn between what is imaginable and the possibilities and limitations ... constrained by the difficulties of transferring thoughts or imagination onto the two dimensional space of canvas or paper".

Her previous collection, All Those Colours and Dreams, was a continuation of successful cycles such as Cathedrals and Abstractions, but also paintings from her later cycle Chinks and Windows. These oblong, mixed media paintings consisted of two planes, the first very colourful, the second a sort of space symbolising the indefinable.

Her works are held in private collections in Polalnd, the UK, Australia, Canada, China, Japan, the USA and thoughout Europe.
