Roland Cooke
photographer

Roland Cooke specialises in natural history photography - concentrating on the bird life, insect life and flora to be found in local nature reserves, like Styal Woods and Plumley Nature Reserve, in Cheshire. His approach is to take photographs without interference with the subject or manipulation of the background. He trys to 'capture the moment', isolating and complimenting the subject in natural light and without props of any kind.
Through the use of close up photograph techniques his awareness of abstract/patterns in the natural world has evolved and Roland hopes that his photographs will give a greater understanding and perception of the different facets of nature, especially the diverse shapes and incredible colour.
In 1996 Roland was awarded the Associateship of the Royal Photographic Society - Natural History Category.Roland has enjoyed success in competitions at national level in addition to having his work published in photographic magazines, in commercials, in the Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council Yearbook and as a Christmas card and a calendar.
