Neil Roland

Midland Hotel, Manchester

Flux - Secrets in a Changing City. The title of this exhibition aptly describes the photographs of Neil Roland. Photographer and author, Roland produces images which celebrate Manchester's ever-changing minutiae - the decaying gems of the city's buildings brought to life in the light of the glittering glass which is springing up around them.

Combining Roland' artistic talent with his experience, Flux is a progression from previous shows, in which he presents a new collection of pictures which tease the eye and challenge viewers to look about them as they walk the city streets. Using only his 1977 Pentax K1000, without filters, or digital imagery, nor photographic trickery, Roland achieves scintillating images. His object is that we should acknowledge the endangered and be visually thrilled by the intense colours of Manchester's urban landscape, as it unfolds before our eyes. The result is dramatic and eye-catching, colour rich images which thrill the senses.

His photographs are held in private collections in Australia, Canada, France, Israel, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Russia, Sweden, the USA and throughout Britain.
