Alison Murdoch

Alison was born in Glasgow and graduated in Fine Art from the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee. She has been painting professionally for 14 years. She now lives in Cheshire.
She claims that her textured, abstract oils are self-portraits and sees them as explorations of universal themes of emotion and mood, instinct and passion, sensation, relationship, arrival and departure. The sea is a recurring subject, though often as a metaphor. "They are personal experiences."
Her paintings are built in vigorous layers of colour. Several paintings may be produced in a series and so form a well bonded body of work, often on large canvases.
Alison has participated in numerous group shows and held her solo shows in London and Scotland. Her work has been published in Beautiful Homes and Time Out magazines.
