Meri Vardan

After the style and themes of Gauguin

After the style and themes of Lautrec

"I know"
Born in 1965 in Yerevan, Armenia, Meri Vardan now lives in Britain. She studied music in Armenia, qualifying in 1986 as a choir conductor at Yerevan College of Music. For many years music was her livelihood and main activity, even though she had loved painting since a child. After teaching music for six years she resigned to start a career as a freelance artist.
Her first art works were made from rose petals and leaves, and proved popular because of their unusual nature. Pictures produced in this way from flowers require meticulous preparation and used in small scale works with charming texture and subtle colours, protected under glass.
She also created pastiches of the Post Impressionists, as illustrated above, and acrylic paintings inspired by Armenian themes. She therefore offers more than one distinct styles. She has exhibited in Paris and at the Headrow Gallery in Leeds. She lives in Yorkshire.
