Svetlana Filippova

Svetlana Filippova was born in Leningrad (now again St. Petersburg) in 1967. She took to painting from a very early age but chose to study technology, particularly aircraft design, after leaving school. Over the next ten years she travelled extensively in Europe and the USA. In 1992 she settled in the UK. Here she has concentrated more on her creativity and in gaining qualifications in interior design and as a teacher, mainly of Art to HNC students. She works and teaches as an interior designer, while undertaking commissions as an artist.
Her style places emphasis on shape, form and compositinal balance. Inner peace and harmony are evident in her carefully wrought work, which often uses cool hues of a heavy surface texture.
Lana last exhibited at the Blyth Gallery in March 2004.
