Keith Taylor

Eclipse Blues

Eclipse Reds

In 1998 Keith Taylor completed a B.A Degree with Honours in Media Production Management at Westherts College, in Hertfordshire. This gave him the opportunity to experiment with composition and lighting in a practical and interesting way. Now, as a fine artist who specialises in acrylic and oil painting, it is the composition of light and dark which has emerged as the most essential ingredient of any image to him. His latest abstract collection, entitled Inner Light, focuses on the use of light derived from landscape, seascapes and still life forms. Taylor uses bold, contrasting colours and tones to accentuate positive and negative spaces when applying them to canvas, to create a sense of anticipation within the image, removing the original subject from its initial state. The use of light and dark is consistent in his work. Sometimes the light a source is natural, but it can be set up artificially in a space to give the subject matter a new life. This series of paintings includes a number of impressive over-sized works, shown with canvases of medium size - in a square format - complimented by smaller intimate works.
