Judith Donaghy

Judith Donaghy was born in Frodsham, Cheshire and originally designed children's jigsaws and toys, selling her designs on a regular basis at Harrogate and Brighton fairs. Later, as a mature student at Stockport College, she trained as a textile and wallpaper designer. Now an established artist, Judith paints semi-abstract landscapes in oil on canvas and in acrylic on paper.
The Isle of Anglesey has inspired her to paint her recent collection of coastal works, in a restricted palette of crisp creams and beiges, which strike a contrast with her 'hot' pieces, worked in vibrant, bold colours, inspired by travels on the Continent. Another favourite depiction is that of simple images of flowers and pots in clear pure colour, or interiors in soft, misty hues.
Donaghy was a prize winner in the painting competition organised by Leisure Painter Magazine in June 2006 and was selected as one of fifteen artists, nation-wide, to paint alongside Rolf Harris, in his programme Rolf on Lowry, filmed in Piccadilly Gardens, Manchester and emulating Lowry's depiction of the scene circa 1954, filmed for BBC 1 television and broadcast in February 2007.
Donaghy regularly undertakes commissions and her paintings are held in private collections both in this country and abroad. Exhibitions include Salon International d'Arts Plastiques, South of France, Salford Art Gallery Stockport Art Gallery, The Blyth Gallery, Manchester, Toucan Art, Hale, Cheshire and The Wendy J. Levy Gallery, South Manchester
