Dai David

Coney Island, NewYork

Winter Shadows, Montmartre

Dai David was born near Brecon, South Wales, in 1968. From an early age he loved to draw, paint, make models and do calligraphy. But, the school syllabus prompted David to peruse music and languages, whilst studying art, on his own, at home. He adopted Manchester as his home when he moved to the city to study opera, and his recent painting include atmospheric depictions of the city centre.. His passion for art was reawakened when he went to Italy to study in Florence. Now an established painter, he has also pursued music-related themes.
David, who teaches piano and singing privately, is fascinated how adults lose their inhibitions as they play, and also how children show maturity. This is the inspiration for his 'people style' art, ranging from cartoon-type to traditional portrait.
