Colin Halliday
Imaginary landscapes

Colin Halliday was born in Carisle, Cumbria in 1964. He studied at Cumbria College of Art and Design before gaining a degree at Exeter. A professional artist for the past sixteen years, he lives and works in London.
As Colin explains ' I was twenty-one when I decided to make art. I had no preconcieved idea about what an artist is or should be, but I thought I should learn to observe and acquire the traditional skills. College encouraged experimentation and questioning for which I am now grateful. I do not want to fix meaning onto my art - it comes from a desire to create something of beauty and relevance to the time in which I live in a way which is modern and innovative. Colin continues to try to develop his own language in paint by creating original pictures that reflect his response to these times.
Colin's interest in myth, religion and the natural world forms the basis for his work. A regular exhibitor, Colin has shown his work in exhibitions throughout the country including at the Business Design Centre in London.
