Carol Heathcote

Born in Salford and growing up in Manchester, Carol Heathcote began her career in industry by training as a chemist in a laboratory. Throughout her early working life she was interested in arts and crafts, and inspired by the work of Caroline Bailey and especially her unusual use of colour. She also greatly admired the work of Turner for his depiction of light and its effects.
In 2001 Carol took her first steps into art with a Foundation Course in art and design at Salford University. She specialised in textiles and then chose to study for a BA Honours Degree at Manchester Metropolitan University, motivated by their emphasis on drawing. She graduated with first class honours in 2005.
Carol uses vibrant colours, believing that "colours are what makes life exciting, and if you look for them they can be found everywhere, even on the dullest days".
She has exhibited her work previously in Manchester and Blackburn.
