Bozena Douthwaite
Colour-rich floral compositions

Born in Preston in 1958 to an English mother and Polish father, Bozena Ann Douthwaite has spent her educational and academic life surrounded by art. She completed her B.A. (Hons.) in fine art at Leicester Polytechnic and went on to obtain an adult teaching certificate at Chorley College, following this with a postgraduate course (1981-1983) at the prestigious Slade School of Art in London.
Her energetic compositions consist of brightly coloured depictions of flowers and trees painted in acrylic on board or canvas. Bursts of hot colours swirl and dance, while occasional glitter and glass beads add to the depiction of the fragility of flowers.
Bozena has taught at various colleges and polytechnics throughout the North West, designing cards for a greetings card company, undertaking private commissions and lecturing at art societies. Her previous exhibitions include the Blackburn Museum and Art gallery, the Harris Museum and Art Gallery in Preston, the Howorth Art Gallery, Accrington, the Vernon Gallery, Preston, and the Mall Galleries, London. In 1990 she was a prizewinner in the Royal Academy Stowell's Trophy competition.
