MANCHESTER ART
Scenes of Manchester by the following
artists:
E. Anthony Orme was born and studied in
Manchester. His paintings and pastels include
nostalgic images of the Manchester townscape,
charming images of French and Italian cafe and
street life, and striking images of the female
form.

Chris Clover, illustrator and fine artist from
Timperley, Cheshire. His signed limited editions include 'The Old
Bank , Altrincham and 'The Clock Tower', Altrincham.
Christine Lawley claims her
works are 'windows on Manchester'. Inspired
by Harold Riley, they depict the unique
architecture and character of the city in
fascinating detail. Her city-scapes capture
the imagination, because of their quality of
enchantment.:

Arthur Delaney is one of the North West's finest
and most unusual artists, painting industrial scenes, and finding
beauty and drama in his surroundings. Limited editions include 'High

Macclesfield based artist Marc Grimshaw is widely
recognised for his capacity to capture in pastel Manchester street-life
of the 50's and 60's. Limited editions include 'Queue at the Fair'
and 'Cleaning the Steps' .
Robert (Bob) Richardson, born
in Salford in 1938, has developed a reputation
for pastel paintings which capture light,
atmosphere and mood of his industrial landscapes
of Manchester and Stockport. Also scenes of

Philip Westcott specialises
in interiors.
L. S. Lowry,
born 1887: Northern scenes by the artist who
spent all his life in and around Salford. Limited
edition prints available; prices on application.
Steven Scholes 'Piccadilly 1928' signed limited

Paul Brotherton is a
professional artist working in Cheshire. Previously he worked in
the Lake District, then travelled extensively, including Zimbabwe.
His work aims to recognise, interpret and communicate positive beauty.
Martin Murrey, has created a
series of luminous images of the Canal Street
area, where The Blyth Gallery is situated.
Dai David,
Chadderton-based, Welsh-born artist specialising
in presenting Manchester with the flavour of a
continental city, with flamboyant style and bold
brush strokes.
David Langston has produced power
images of industrial Manchester using bold blocks
of colour.

PEOPLE & PORTRAITURE
E. Anthony Orme has painted
a series of striking female figures including the nude. He works
in many media, but predominantly pastels, oils and acrylics.

John Coffey, who studied at Manchester
School of Art (now MMU) and lives in Cheshire, paints a wide variety
of figurative subjects, but takes special pleasure in figures and
portraits to commission.
Dai David, Chadderton-based,
Welsh-born artist, has also created a series of paintings about
music, musicians and dancers.

R. O. Lenkiewicz, born in 1941, of Jewish parents
Lenkiewicz studied at St Martin's School of Art and subsequently
at the Royal Academy Schools. He is a painter who works essentially
in an academic fashion, while at the same time extending the visual
image, linking it closely with sociological philosophical and aesthetic
images. Originals and limited editions available on request.
LANDSCAPE
Emerson Mayes and Richard Clare,
two painters of the northern landscape, shared an exhibition at
the Blyth Gallery. John Coffey also paints
landscapes, city-scapes and sea scapes.

Philip Westcott specialises in woodland scenes, landscapes
and scenes of people in groups in public spaces such as shopping
malls.

Colin Halliday's art shows a deep feeling for the Northern
landscape. His richly coloured paintings depict imaginary rather
than topographical landscapes,

Robert Bindloss
has travelled widely and draws on this richness in his deeply coloured
canvses.

We have had exhibitions of landscapes by David
Winning, Tim Slatter, Estelle Scholes
and Jim Wright, whose atmospheric
pastels draw upon the Yorkshire landscape and seascape. Also by
Lou Moore, Paul Brotherton
and Stephen Lord.
SCULPTURE
Wayne Charmer
explores the possibilities of fused glass and enamels:
David Keenan
is a sculptor working in glass, and has created some delightful,
graceful images of people.
Colin Jacobs' works in stone
and bronze resin has been on exhibition in 2003.
Dennis Kilgallon has produced
many art works based on classical styles, including ones suitable
for the garden.

FLOWERS, ANIMALS & WILDLIFE
Gary Strickland, established painter of wild life,
specialising in birds, depicting them in stark landscapes; combining
natural images with the surreal. The intention is intimate and non
panoramic.
Bozena
Douthwaite has
a 2004 exhibition of her colour-rich floral compositions.
ABSTRACT &
EXPRESSIONISM
Internationally renowned Danish artist, Hans
Meyer Petersen's, whose work hangs in
the Museum of Modern Art, in New York. Various
Limited Editions available on request.

Theodore Major: his highly collectable
works are now available upon request.
Tadeusz Was, a veteran Polish
figurative abstract expressionist and member of
the Polish Artists Society.
'Flower Girl': oil on paper, 1979, is one example

images
In parallel with painting bright, colourful representational works,
Paul Brotherton has produced
some interesting abstracts, several of which have characteristic
horizontal and vertical bands in strong colour, reminiscent of Piet
Mondrian.
Gabriela Trynkler Polish artist for whom
colour is the main interest. Her textures are based on perception
of nature and the surrounding world. Mixed media mounted originals.
Jayne Jones
- experiments with paint textures, especially
formed with Hammerite metallic paint.
Other abstract artists include Phillipe Aird, John Booth, Joyce Burgess, Carola Colley
